The Eastern Shore Elders
The Eastern Shore church of Christ is blessed to have four men serving as elders. An elder, sometimes known as a bishop or shepherd, is a man who meets certain qualifications found in the New Testament. They are obligated by Jesus to carefully watch over the local congregation and ensure the spiritual growth and development of each Christian. They are limited in that they cannot change any Biblical law or precept and they have no authority over any congregation except their own. The preacher and deacons all serve under the direction of the elders.
Our elders at Eastern Shore are:
Sid Chupek is a resident of Fairhope and a recently retired business owner. Sid has lived in Baldwin County all of his life. Sid and his wife Linda have two children and four grandchildren.
Bill Jordan lives in the Malbis community between Daphne and Spanish Fort. Bill is retired having worked in the financial industry for many years. He moved to the Eastern Shore from Decatur, Alabama. Bill and his wife Carol have two sons, a daughter and six grandchildren.
Scott Kelly lives in Fairhope and is retired from the building and construction supply industry. He was raised in Indiana and lived in Florida before moving here many years ago. Scott is also one of our song leaders. Scott and his wife Sandy have two children and six grandchildren.
John Langham lives in Daphne and is also retired from the Alabama public schools. John is a frequent missionary to Guyana and helps guide the Guyana Christian University. John and his wife Jamie have four daughters and 3 grandchildren.
